This Art is for the Birds

This Art is for the Birds is inspired by Aristophanes’ play The Birds, where the themes of corrupt politics and false prophecies are satirized.
The play opens with the discovery that the Canary in the Coal Mine is dead. The different flocks of Birds fly into a frenzy. Each flock of Birds wants to help and believes they have the best solution to the problem. Quarreling ensues. In desperation, the King and Queen of the Birds step in and decree that there will be a competition, where each flock of birds may present their solution to stop the demise of Mother Earth.
The audience will decide who wins.
Presented in the tradition of outdoor Greek Comedies complete with a Chorus full of observations, prophecies and premonitions, This Art is for the Birds will showcase how saving the Earth may have more than one solution. Further, inspired by Aristophanes, the founding father of comedic drama, the play is filled with humor and inside jokes that will have audiences laughing in the aisles while hopefully gaining some insight into the many options we each have to help and save Mother Earth.
